Hello,
The support group that you help out with cought my interest. I had spoken with someone in my community awhile back who wanted to start a group for gays, lesbians and bisexuals with disabilities but it never got off the ground. Could you post some info. about how your group was started and what kind of things do you do at your meetings.

Hello Coffee, im intrested in starting a local group too, and i think the best way to go about it is though the council rather tan setting it up on your own ... but having said that i dont *really* know what im talking about!! The disabled lesbian group in Manchester is really successfull and they have quite a few members.
Gem moved house not so long ago though, and im not sure she is on line again yet. But i'm going to ring her this week so i will either get her to write me something in an e mail from work and i'l post it, or i'l take notes and give you the gist of it!
But i would be intrested in anything you find out about setting up a group. If i hear anything else or talkto any one in the know i'l let you know what they said!!

Coffee, hi!

The Disabled Lesbian Group started about a year ago and is housed by the Lesbian Community Project. The LCP has been funded by the lottery and gayfest charities. We susposed to meet once a month, but lately no-ones bothering to turn up and i'm sick of organising and phoning people. Older lesbians moan that they dont fit in cos its 'too young', bisexuals moan cos 'its too lesbian orinated' blar blar blar!!! Silly old bags I say!!!!!! Anyway it was good for over a year, and maybe things will step up again , but its constant work. Check out our newsletter on www.manchesterlcp.org.uk/ .

so its really worth putting the effot in then! lol ... i guess if you run it with a few people and take it in turns to work things out people are more inclined to keep going?? Oh well .. i guess its worth trying!! hehe.. good luck!!
