MENOPAUSE HEALTH INFORMATION WORKSHOP FOR DISABLED WOMEN
Tuesday 24 June 2003, 10.30am - 3.30pm at 336 Brixton Road, London SW9
A great opportunity to spend time with other disabled women in a supportive and friendly space and to find out about:
* Hormones, health and looking after yourself.
* Hormone Replacement Therapy and alternatives such as Homeopathy.
* Issues specific to disability and impairment.
* Inclusive event with presentations, discussion and creative activities.
* Transport and childcare costs refunded.
* Information in accessible formats.
* Interpreters, assistance, induction loop and parking.
* Lunch provided. ALL FREE.

The Frida Network is named after the Mexican disabled artist and activist Frida Kahlo. It is part of Women's Health who provide information and support to women on gynaecological and sexual health issues such as thrush, heavy bleeding, fibroids, hysterectomy, menopause, pre-menstrual tension, abortion, donor and self insemination, and fertility awareness.
The workshop will cover:
What is the menopause?
What are the signs of menopause?
What are hot flushes?
What is HRT?
Does menopause affect impairment?
What causes osteoporosis?
Why are exercise and diet important?
Health professionals don't usually work from a disability equality perspective. The workshop will look at why this matters.
