Laura Hershey, activist, published writer, and organizer of the Queer Disability Conference; and Robin Stephens, advocate and attorney will be offering a workshop in Seattle. Laura and Robin will focus on disability pride and queer pride, and on understanding the impact of sexuality on disability and vice versa. The workshop will foster critical dialogue between queer people with and without disabilities. Together we will investigate the power dynamics behind homophobia and disabiliphobia. We'll talk about the history of people with disabilities, our role in the queer community, and the complexity of intersectional identity. Queer and/or disabled people will claim and celebrate our lives and commitment to liberation. Allies will learn to practice solidarity not charity.
