Ok, i read this artical a while ago now and talked this over with a few friends of mine. I have found another artical written about the same couple and i would love to know what you think. The artical isnt too long but if you just want an idea as to what its all about .... here goes! Basicly, a lesbian couple who are both deaf wanted kids. They diesided they would find a deaf man to father the kids in the hope that the child would also be deaf. As you can emagen it brought up huge diffrences in morrol desitions and there was lots of arguments going on!! Here are a few thought to consider ... That child will be deaf (the child did turn out to be deaf in the end) Will he or she be thankfull that she cant here when she is starting life or finding it hard to get a job? If the child could hear and the parents went to an assesment evening at the childs school, the child would have to sign for the parents so they knew what was going on. Here is the link, www.cnsnews.com/ViewCulture.asp?Page=\Culture\archive\200204\CUL20020402a.html have a look and see what you think!!

As long as a child has parents that care about them and treat them right, i don't think it should matter whether they are gay, straight or disabled. People should be more worried about the children that don't get looked after properly by the parents they have now, rather than the sexuality or disabilities of some who would make fantastic parents. Yep, I agree with ya Scrumpy. What's important is how a child is treated and cared for. I've read that article about the Deaf couple and I don't have any problem with their choice. It makes sense if you think of being Deaf as a cultural attribute rather than a disability. That of course is another argument...

Im with you two on this one!! I think there are soooo many kids who need to be found new homes either fostered or adopted ... kids who have voilen parents or parents who just dont really care and we go off on one about a couple who want to have kids ... most of the time now there's only one parent involved .. this is a commited couple who love each other and want to rais babys .. go for it!! The deaf part if a bit of a tuffy, persoanly i think its up to the parents to think of the child first at all times ... and to be honest when they agrees to try for a deaf baby they were thinking of the child. If you had to deaf parents and you your self were hearing it would place a huge responcibility on your sholders to translate in social and edicational situations. And it would be that way from a young age ... i tend to think thats quite a responcibility for a wee one ... having said that i know some top ladyz who have deaf parents and say its was just hunky dory ... lol ... talked my self out of my own opinion there!! How talented am i!!
