Hi Fraggle, couldn't answer your post in the usual place, cos Im STILL (grr) having technical problems. So, here it it is (for the 2nd time.....1st wouldn't "stick") Re:AYME Msg Board- yeh, I agree, it is pretty unfriendly to newbies. I found it cliquey too. Whether you got a reply or not did not depend on whether your post was worth replying to or not.....it depended on whether you were "in" or "out". (blows a raspberry...well, actually something a lot ruder, but Jo said to keep it clean, so..... Re:CHEERS (AYME mag) profile-yeh, sure you can mention me. Can you try to find space to also mention my top speed record (in my Quickie manual) of 17.4 km/h pls? (tho' be honest, tell 'em that it was downhill, i.e mostly due to gravity, not on the flat). I think it'd be sweet to compare top speeds with other AYMERS/ ME/chronically ill people, cos' we can't really compete in the usual w/chair sports due to our energy + strength sapping ilness. But, hey, we can still have a bit of fun in our chairs, right? These days, zipping along the Euston Rd. Westbound (bloody busy at the best of times) between two juggernauts on my mountain bike is no longer an option. But w/chair racing is not a bad substitute, esp. when you see that you're changing able-bodied ppls' attitude to us disabled folk. (in which way, I'm not quite sure.....maybe they decide we're all nutters after seeing me whizzing down the subway slope). P.S This will probably be my last post for a while. My Dreamcast (games console that alows me to acess the internet) is on it's last legs

AYME can be kinda scary when your new .. i personally think the message board is terrible!! Its not assessable to me (dont know about you) but it moves so fast! I hate most of the members and most of the staff .. the dont actually do anything that they say they stand for. The magazine is quite good i guess but it amazes me how people so severly affected can do and write about the things they do for the mag!
Any way, i dont think AYME is really set up for people who have more problems than there ME, like Gorgie said, its just designed for people who are middle class with parents who stay home to look after there sick children! It doesnt take into consideration that there might be people out there who are really ill and have no one .. hummm
Any way, it woul be cool if you mentioned me in your profile cos then it would look like people liked me too!! ha ha ha

ooooooo .. how special am i!! (((THANK YOU CASS))) Do you post on AYME much or even get much use out of it? I have ben a member for 2 years, and i have to say i have made some really good friends from there, but i dont use it much any more .. i just cant be assed with all the 14 year olds asking what ability i am!! I do feel for them cos when your newly diognosed you need nice people to tell you about there illness .. but i am not one of them nice people I am going to talk to Jill moss, or who ever runs is now, about setting up a special group for Gay, lesbian and Bisexual member. You see we have special groups for people who are severly affected, for people who are under 12, for men and for over 20 .. but nothing for a very *special* minority. Its important that people get information abouit sexuality at the age they are .. and no one is giving it to them. Its hard enough to find out about these things when your young .. let alone bed bound!!! I think they have a duty to offer something to the kids!! Any way, i believe Su has mentioned it before and the idea wasnt looked apon very well .. i will see what i can do!! Any ideas would be greatly receved & if any of you fancy writing a lil letter to AYME to let them know your gay/lesbian/bi and have nothing to help you out Any way, watch this space i will let you know what happens. Do you know what issue of CHEERS! your profile will be in?? Look forward to seeeeein it babykins!! Love always to every one xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I don't use the AYME boards at all at the moment. I think I have a total of about 10 posts. I'm friends with a few members though a lot have come through diaryland. I suppose one day I might go back. I'm not going to be making a profile for a while as it's a good way of making pen pals and I'm not up to having any more. I thought about the profile when I had three, now I have about 11. Big difference but I'll let you know when you can see my ugly mug in cheers ;D On writing a letter to AYME the way for there to be a gay/les/bi group is to volunteer or find someone who is willing to volunteer to run it. They are more likely to agree if with the letter you right a plan about how it will be run and what it will do. The thing about me writing a letter is - am I out? My mum knows but no other family members do, but do friends? My diaryrings do include the queer rings and I'm sure I've mentioned GLAD in it before but does anyone know I'm gay. *ponders* Is there anything about me that screams dyke? Seriously do you think anyones worked it out, I don't care if they have or not I just really hate the whole process of coming out. Oh well. And yes you are special
