Jo,
Thank you for agreeing to take part in our programme on September 16th. This will be a special programme about disability and employment. It will take the form of a debate with a panel and an invited audience. We want people with personal experiences who can speak during the programme and I would be grateful if you could help find the following people for us. The programme is being recorded on Tuesday September 16th in the evening at Church House Conference Centre in Westminster. We would need people who can come to that venue that evening.
A person who was in employment but then became disabled and lost their job. This person has then made countless job applications but has not managed to obtain a job.
A disabled person who is unemployed and on benefits. They want to get a job but the benefit system makes it difficult. Eg they are worried that if the job doesn't work out, they will find it hard to reapply for benefit.
A disabled person who has a negative experience of education and/or training. Maybe they were discriminated against at school/college and didn't get good qualifications. Maybe their teachers underestimated what they were capable of. Maybe they have been given training but it was not the training they wanted.
A disabled person who's had a bad experience of a government employment initiative eg the New Deal for Disabled People.
A disabled person who is unhappy with the Access to Work Scheme.
If you know people who meet any of these descriptions and who might be willing to take part, I would be grateful if you could let me know as soon as possible and ideally by Friday Sept 5th.
