Hiya! My name is Gemma and I am new on here! I am a lesbian and I am also severly disabled. Not many people know I am gay, I am 17 and had two girlfriends. My second girlfriend was a school friend, so naturally my whlole school found out! My friends were quite ok with it! My parents and brothers suspect I am gay but they don't know for sure. I will tell them when I am ready!! maybe on 50 years!!!!! I am not ashamed of being a lesbian, I just find it hard. My parents think because I can't move I don't have feelings! let alone feeling for girls! It will be a big shock for them! Anyways I have no girlfriend now, she left me after 8 months because I was always in hospital and she couldn't handle not knowing day to day whether I would survive the night. But I am happy to say we are exteremly good friends now and my illness' are not so life threatening these days! speak soon guys love gem xxx

Hello sweet heart! I understand your story so well, i know many disabled lesbians (thats why i started OMEGA) who go though the same feelings and problems you do. Being disabled has NOTHING to do with your sexuality, i know you understand that but always remember it ... ALWAYS!! Coming out is hard work for any of us, but take it at your own pace. People who dont understand arnt worth worring about! Parents are tough people to deal with, it can be really hard to explain your feelings too them with out some one getting hurt or saying things they dont mean. I am trying to offer as much info as possible on coming out and being disabled. But im sure untill then im sure that people on the board would be willing to help you with ideas or ways to cope. I have also just been to a disabled lesbians confrence where we designed post cards to go in to clubs and bards and so on. The images we made are brill! And very good at getting the message showen that just becasue were disabled it doesnt mean we dont have sexual identitys. I'l let you know when i have written the weekend up and i'l scan some of the images in to show you too!! Untill then, keep smiling and chatting Lots of love and hugs to you hun, Jo xx
