ARGH!!!!!!!!!! Im sorry petal, but you in for a long weight .. i heard on the grape vine that now they have an unwritten rule that every one who applys should be turned down to start off with .. that way they save a ton of money cos half the people dont appeial. Also heard that the doctors who go round to see people have to turn down 1 out of every 10 people they see .. if your number 10 .. back luck!! >:-( Grrr
I have my fingers crossed for you though angel

Yeh, I've found claiming DLA really tough and stressful. It's hard enough claiming benefits when you're not unwell (e.g unemployment benefit), but going thro the whole thing when you're ill and on your own, huh. They do it on p[urpose. s I also heard about the getting turned down at first, no matter how genuine your claim is. Grrrrrrrr. Genuine claimants need their money now, not a year or two down the line. I'm at appeal no.1 at the mo, so still no money. They talk to you like you're a fraudster, a conman/woman, what a nerve! If I ever bump into that D.W.P Dr again, I'll friggin push hard as I can on my rims and plough my trusty Quickie manual into him! Then when he asks for help to get up/bandage/plaster etc. I'll tut and tell him his claim isn't accepted as being genuine, oh, bu only after I made him wait a year or so, yunno after the wound has turned septic andgangrenous an all that. Mmmmmmmmmm. (drools at the thought) Yes, I certainly have got the Christmas spirit eh? No, I bloody well have not! I see all the gadgets and gizmos that I need badly, that could make life so much easier, and less painful, and just as important give me the independence I deserve. I don't expect to win appeal no.1, coz it's my first DLA claim, and when I filled in the fom I didn't have a clue how to explain what was going on (yunno the disabilities that hd hit me like a ton of bricks (the M.E came back almost overnight). Well next time I'll do better, I'll be armed with info and advice thank God for AFME@S info service! ww.afme.org.uk , also www.ayme.org.uk Push for Victory! (the w/ch users version of the world war 2 slogan "Dig for Victory!)

Wheeler .. thats terrible!! i know what you mean though .. you really have to fight hard for everything. Prove that your not faking it. But i have to say, people with mental health problems are treated better by profetionals than people with ME & FMS are. No matter what ME/FM is caused by, mental, phycological or physical ... it should be treated just like any other condition. And if it is causing dibilitation described by the DLA forms, then you should be able to get it.
Taz, im so pleased you got DLA babe, its about bloomin time!! And just in time for christmas too .. the drinks are on you eh!! Mind me asking what you get??
Love always, Jo xx
