In late August, auction giant eBay threatened legal action against the San Francisco-based gay Web site AlternaBay over the use of the smaller site's unauthorized use of the word "bay," as well as claiming the upstart company's multicolored logo resembles the eBay logo and would create confusion among auction surfers.
Ebay's legal team sent the site's owner Ronnie Rodriguez a cease-and-desist letter, claiming his company's name and logo were infringements on eBay's registered name and colored logo. Like eBay AlternaBay auctions items range from collectibles to clothing.
