I was pleased to see in the May Issue of Diva that Pride in the Park (London) this year is actually going to be held somewhere accessible! Not only that but as the article went on to quote Jason Pollock (the Festival Director) “disabled access is good ...and a priority wheelchair gate provided” “ Disabled tickets are full-price, but an accompanying carer goes free” That’s fair enough that is often the case. It’s a pity then, to be let down at the first hurdle which is actually BUYING the tickets. The first young lady whom I spoke with last week didn’t know anything about disabled tickets but took my name and number and promised to have someone call me back. They didn’t. I called again on Saturday, still no joy but was promised a call back (again). Finally a call today (Tuesday) to say that “They have spoken with the event promotor and that there will be [/i] a concession for disabled people but that the tickets won’t be on sale for another two weeks and could I call back! So a case of “Watch this Space”!

when is a ticket not a ticket? When you can't buy one! Got a call on my answerphone from Cat on the 14th May in the afternoon saying it had all been sorted out, phew at last I thought. Rang ticket line today (Saturday 17th, I know, I know, what took me so long?) Neil answers "yes, no problem you get a concessionary ticket at £16.25 (thats £15 plus booking fee) and you are entitled to buy another for your carer at the same price" Hang on a min! Diva states that A) Disabled Tickets are full price but the carer goes free and B) "all concessions: £10" would they please make their minds up! No answer today from Mardi Gras office so will call again on Monday! I will get my tickets I swear I will! Anbody else going?

Finally, I've just come off the phone to the ticket line. OK here's the deal, DIVA GOT IT WRONG! Concessionary tickets are £15 and each disabled body is allowed to buy one other for their carer. So all you lucky people with more than one carer.... Tough, you'll have to work out which one you love more! ;D So I've finally calmed down, bought my tickets and am having the delivered (which cost another £4 odd) So I hope to see all you wonderful people there. The Ticket line knows about us and the guy I spoke with seemed to know his onions! I spoke with Cat again, very nice lady. She says that Diva printed stuff from the last event and that Jason Pollock denies that he told the reporter the info in the article about ticket prices. She did say that there are special buses from major train stations for wheelchair uses and that there is a special platform for wheelchair users to give a good view of the stage area. So time for a cuppa and a slab of chocolate I think....
