Winter is here, isn't it? well I think it is! I live in the south of Scotland and this year even the farmers are saying that their cattle have grown webbed feet. The wettest spring/summer/autumn on record. About the only good thing is I don't get S.A.D. (Seasonal Adjustment Disorder) mainly because there isn't any difference in the seasons!
Winter does bring it's own special problems though. The cold and wet aggravate many conditions including arthritis and asthma. The weather also increases the likelihood of complications with people who have chronic conditions such as diabetes and dialysis.
The weather also plays a part in our mobility problems, whether we want to use public transport (leaves on the line or just plain under foot!) or our own transport. All travel seems to take longer and of course when you are damp and cold it's a lot more appealing to stay indoors!
So what do you do? for my part I find that I tend to plan everything down to the smallest detail and although this means I end up taking a veritable plethora of things I won't need, I am covered for most emergencies! Gone are the days of just making sure I had lippy and my purse! LOL
How do you cope with going out, when would you call up a friend you are meeting and say "sorry not today" If you make a date would you go through with it even if it means feeling bloody awful by the time you get home? How understanding are your friends? Do they understand that even a damp day (not necessarily raining) day can put you off going out or maybe prevent it all together?
Thoughts appreciated to confirm that this isn't just me!
Zippy - looking out of her window at mist, rain and permeating cold and thankful she can go back to bed and burrow under the duvet!
