(1) National Disabled Persons' Housing Service:
an alliance of disability and housing agencies. Promotes housing resources for disabled people in the U.K. Subscribes to the social model of disability

invests public money in housing associations, and ensures they provide decent housing and services. Their aim is to raise standards for homes and neighbourhoods.
*provides info. on housing assoc. in your area (inc. those which offer accessible housing)

area guides and maps, maintenance, housing legislation, books+ media, social housing (inc. for the disabled, though this section not v. comprehensive)

advisory and campaigning organisation with a membership of over 500 org. representing interests of disabled people. Run by and for disabled
*(among many other issues) provides info on and publications regarding housing, inc:
"finding appropriate housing" (said to be short, but essential reading for those in housing need), and homelessness

(5) National Housing Federation:
represents approx. 1,500 not for profit org. in England that build, regenerate and manage social housing. As such one of main campaigners for adequate, affordable + appropriate social housing.
*offers numerous publications inc. housing for health
*(among other things) provides references + further reading on: obtaining social housing on medical grounds.

(6) Accessible Property Website:
plans to have adverts for accessible properties (from April 03) in both the private and social housing sector.

(7) HOMES (Housing Organisations Mobility and Exchange Systems):
this org. works with U.K landlords to help public-sector tenants (i.e NOT renting from a private landlord)) to move from one area to another (for any reason). It does this through the HOMES mobility scheme.
Also available is the HOMESWAP scheme to facilitate exchanges by mutual consent. Simply register (for free) and recive a list of up to 5 prospective exchange partners in yr chosen area.
*Applications are welcomed from public sector tenants with special needs, who should apply directly rto HOMES with details of their requirements.
